It is with sad heart that we say good bye to Marc Leon, who has been our Youth Director for the last two years. He has decided to take on the Director of Religious Education position at St. Joseph’s in Long Beach. We wish him and his family all the best and hope that he won’t be a stranger. As we say good bye to Marc, we welcome to the Holy Trinity Team, J.R. Romero as our new Youth Director.
Juventino Romero Jr. (J.R.) was born to Juventino and Maria Romero here in San Pedro, CA. J.R. grew up a few blocks from Holy Trinity and regularly attended the 8:30 mass with his family. (His late sister Angela (Romee) was a columnist for San Pedro Today magazine.) He was baptized at St. Peters Church in San Pedro, received his First Communion at Mary Star, and was confirmed here at Holy Trinity.
J.R. attributes his call to serve his church and community from his late mother Maria who was a longtime catechist here at Holy Trinity. He started serving as a confirmation leader in 2000 and joined the youth group in 2004. In 2005, he served as a core member on the team that helped start Life Teen at Holy Trinity.
J.R. is also involved in San Pedro A.Y.S.O. Serving as a coach and referee since 2000, and currently serves on their regional board. His wife Miranda (Mrs. Romero) was a 1st grade teacher at Holy Trinity for over a decade. They have four children, twin daughters (4) Makenna and Madison, and sons (2) Noah and (1) Jett.
